The American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider course trains professionals with clinical responsibilities to provide lifesaving interventions to victims of cardiac and respiratory arrest. This certification is required for most healthcare providers that work in patient care areas and for students enrolled in medical and nursing programs.

Intended Audience:
The BLS Provider Course is designed to train healthcare professionals to recognize life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner. The course is intended for healthcare professionals and healthcare students with clinical responsibilities such as EMS personnel, physician assistants, doctors, dentists, nurses, respiratory therapists, and any other person who requires a Healthcare Provider CPR course.
The Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider blended learning course offers a flexible training option for busy healthcare professionals who would like to either renew their BLS Provider card or for the first-time user who would like to initially certify for BLS Provider. (Part 1) delivers the course content via online, self-paced modules. (Part 2) requires students to meet with an American Heart Association Instructor to complete a hands-on skills session. Upon successful completion of all parts, students receive a course completion card valid for two years.
